In these modern times the technology is developing really fast and there is a need for social development to keep up the pace. Do you think the structure of charitable organizations is still suitable these days?
Charitable organizations have a pyramid structure with the management on top of the hierarchy. So, what does the management do? The management controls the funds from donations, takes care of the legal issues, promotes donation campaigns and distributes the collected aid to targeted aid recepients. Also, if it is a large organizaton then the managers are working full time for the organization and they get their paychecks from the donation funds. There are also other monthly costs concerning the headquarters of the organization, for example bills for the eletricity, water, internet and phone need to be paid. When all put together, some of the donations will not get to the targeted aid recepients.
Maybe there is an alternative. What if we lose the management, the headquarters and expensive donation campaigns? The organization would be headless, but in these modern times maybe we don't need a charitable organization per say. The technology alows us to create an online local community whose members would be all on the same level of hierarchy. Every member could propose a donation campaign for a targeted aid receiver and the other members would decide to participate or not depending on the cause for donation. Keep in mind that when I speak of donations don't mean only money. Also, with the help of cryptocurrencies, we could create a token for our community which will then be used in donation campaigns and automatically converted to fiat currency when reached certain amount for the recepient. That way we remove all unnecessery costs and 100% of the donations go to people who need help.
